The Dawson County Board of Commissioners met for a regular meeting on Wednesday, March 14th.
The major item on the abbreviated agenda was the approval on bids for new patrol cars that was tabled at the March 1st meeting.
The Commissioners accepted the bid from Pony Express Chevrolet in Gothenburg for one 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe with a trade-in of $8,000 for a total of $30,923. They also accepted the bid for two 2018 Ford Explorers from Platte Valley Auto in Lexington with trade-in for two vehicles at $10,000 for a total of $66,106. According to Deputy Sheriff Mike Hudson the two Explorers will be utilized as canine vehicles since they sit closer to the ground are easier on the dog’s hips when they jump in.
In other business, Official’s Receipts were filed as submitted: $2,042.32 County Clerk; $25,418.11 Register of Deeds; $15,290.04 Clerk of District Court and $550.00 Surveyor.
Treasurer’s Receipts in the amount of $958,739.41 were approved, as were the Claims in the amount of $270,549.76.
Under Committee Reports, Commissioner Butch Hagan reported that the fairground has experienced some issues with construction but the end product will be nice.
Dawson County Sheriff Gary Reiber presented the February crime reports.
Chairman Dean Kugler received authorization to sign the audit representation letter.
Prior to the Dawson County Board of Commissioners meeting, the Dawson County Board of Equalization met.
Chairman Kugler opened a public hearing at 8:01 a.m. regarding the approval or denial of a tax protest exemption on political subdivision property for use for public service for the Central Nebraska Public Power and Irrigation District. Central Nebraska Public Power representative Charles Brewster formally requested the hearing to be scheduled at a later date. The hearing closed at 8:05 a.m. and the commissioners approved to table the public hearing.
Tax corrections were approved for parcels owned by Kevin Rhone and Tyson Foods.
The next regularly scheduled meetings for the Dawson County Boards of Equalization and Commissioners is scheduled for Friday, March 30th at 8:00 a.m. in the Commissioners Meeting Room in the Dawson County Courthouse located in Lexington, Nebraska.
