Mass of Christian Burial for Kenneth L. Clark will be conducted from the All Saints Catholic Church in Holdrege, Nebraska on Thursday, July 20th, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Thomas Lux officiating. Rosary will be held at the church prior to the Mass at 9:30 a.m.  Following the traditional funeral, cremation will take place and a private family inurnment will be held at the Cozad Cemetery at Cozad, Nebraska.
     Kenneth Lowell Clark, 78 years of age, of York, Nebraska (formerly of Holdrege) passed away on Sunday, July 16th, 2017 at the York General Hearthstone in York. Ken was born October 22nd, 1938 at Hettinger, North Dakota, the eldest of two sons born to Ray and Vera (Dern) Clark. He received his education from Hettinger Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1956.
     Following his education, he began a life-long career in retail sales, where he was employed at J.C. Penney’s in Powell. This is where Ken would meet the love of his life. On April 5th, 1959 he was united in marriage to Lupe Rodriguez at Powell and to this union five children were born: Deborah, Christine, Kenneth, David, and Richard.  The family made their homes in Great Bend, Kansas, Cozad, Nebraska City, Geneva, Holdrege and Hastings all while with J.C. Penney’s. They later settled in Holdrege, where Ken and Lupe owned and operated the Sears Catalog Store in Holdrege, and later purchased the Western Auto Store in Lexington, Nebraska, while they continued to reside in Holdrege. In later years, Ken was employed by the Holdrege Public School System until his retirement in 2009.  In 2012, the couple moved to Kearney, Nebraska. On March 29th, 2013, he was preceded in death by Lupe. Ken later began to make his home at York General Hearthstone, where he received loving care until his passing.  
     Ken was a handyman, who could fix most anything that came his way, and in retirement years he and Lupe loved to travel. Throughout his years in business, Ken enjoyed helping customers, and many friendships bonds were formed that lasted throughout his career. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren. 
     He was an active member of the All Saints Catholic Church, and a 4th Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council #8590 in Holdrege. He was also a past member of the Chamber of Commerce.  
    Besides his parents and wife, Lupe, Ken was preceded in death by one daughter, Debbie at the age of 25 years; two brothers-in-law: Robert Rodriguez and Joseph Rodriguez; and sisters-in-law: Marlene Clark, Sally Clark, Mary Rodriguez who died in infancy, and Mary Valles.
     Ken leaves to celebrate his life; one daughter, Christine Clark Phipps and her husband, Troy of Lincoln, Nebraska; three sons: Ken Clark and his wife, Brenda of Benedict, Nebraska, David Clark and his husband, Jason Conrad of Lincoln, and Richard Clark and his wife, Nicole of Kearney; five grandchildren: Cassandra Larreau Bailey and her husband, Dallas, Dalton and Trevor Clark, and Haley and Ryan Clark; one great-grandchild, Fletcher Bailey; brother, Floyd Clark and his wife, Karen of San Diego, California; two brothers-in-law: Raymond Rodriguez and his wife, Marina of Powell, Wyoming, and Joe Valles of Paramount, California, and one sister-in-law, Lourdes Rodriguez of Southgate, California; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
     Visitation was held on Wednesday, July 19th, 2017 at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.
     A memorial has been established in Ken’s honor and kindly suggested to the All Saints Catholic Church in Holdrege.
