Gerald (Jerry) Tomasek, formerly of Cozad, died August 29th, 2017 in Green Valley, Arizona at the age of 87.
Jerry was born October 5th, 1929 in Gothenburg to Roy and Velma (West) Tomasek. He graduated from Lexington High School in 1947. He served in the Nebraska National Guard during the Korean War.
In 1991 he retired at age 62 after working 37 years for Dawson Public District. He was a life long member of the Elks Club and served as Exalted Ruler of the Cozad Lodge #2250 from 1976 – 1977. Jerry spent winters in Green Valley, Arizona and summers at his Cozad home until 2005 when he permanently moved to Arizona. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife Kathy Tomasek, children Scott (Terry) Tomasek of Omaha and Kelly (Steve) Schneider of Green Valley, Arizona, grandchildren Tucker (Jayme) Tomasek of Seattle, Washington and Trista (Amanda) Tomasek of Overland Park, Kansas and brothers Don Tomasek of Lexington and Bob (Judy) Tomasek of Fort Collins, Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his former wife, Jo (Foged) Tomasek and his brother Dale Tomasek.
To honor his wishes there will be no public memorial service; a private family interment will be in the Cozad Cemetery at a later date.
