Anthony (Tony) Gallardo died Sunday, June 17th, 2018, in Lincoln, Nebraska.  Tony was born January 19th, 1942, in Cozad, Nebraska, to Trinidad and Sadie Gallardo.  He grew up in Cozad graduating from Cozad High School in 1960. 
In 1965, Tony was drafted into the Vietnam War to the Army and served in the Big Red One, Army's First Division. He served his country honorably as a combat infantry soldier.  Tony was very active in veterans organizations upon his return from Vietnam.  He was recognized and well known for helping veterans, not only in Nebraska, but surrounding states as well.  He took time, always, to assist his fellow veterans and won numerous awards for his volunteer service.
 His smile and sense of humor could brighten anyone's day.  Tony held many offices through the VFW and was Commander of Post 131.  He also held offices through the Department of Disabled Veterans and was also past State Commander of the VFW.  Tony retired from St. Elizabeth's Hospital, where he'd worked for 29 years in the maintenance department.
He is survived by his wife Fran Arsiaga Gallardo; two sons, Aaron (Melinda), Woodland Hills, California, and grandson Charlie, and son Adrian and his son Ryder of Greenville, SC; eight sisters, Mary Leopold, Helen Araujo (Pete), Thomasine Briseno (Jim), Delores Cordova, Elvira Granados (Jesse), Rosie Alcaraz, Della Stockwell (Ron), Betty Gallardo; and one brother Donnie Gallardo, Las Vegas, Nevada; and numerous nieces and nephews.  
Visitation and Recitation of the Rosary was held at Butherus Maser & Love Funeral Home and a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John's Catholic Church, in Lincoln, Nebraska, and burial with military rites followed at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, June 22-23, 2018.
