Defending their home hardwood were the Orange and Black-clad cagers as Lexington clashed with Grand Island Central Catholic in a girls/boys doubleheader on Friday. 
In the girls contest, the Crusaders were able to grab and early lead and hold off any and all charges to earn a 53-27 win over the Maids. 
Hitting the door running were the Crusader cagers as they led 22-6 at the end of the first quarter. The Lexington offense turned the tides in the second stanza to make the score 28-16 at the intermission. 
Just as they had in the opening quarter, the Crusaders surged offensively to make the score 41-20 with one quarter left. 
Grand Island CC finished strong on a 13-7 run to earn the 53-27 win.

In the nightcap, the Minutemen scored from the charity stripe late due in thanks to Dylan Richman to score the 64-63 win over the Crusaders. 
Grand Island CC led at the end of the first quarter 15-12 and also at halftime 25-24 before the Orange and Black were able to battle back and garner the lead, 48-45 with just one quarter remaining. 
The scoring fury continued into the fourth quarter, with Lexington netting 16 points to the Crusaders 18 tallies. The Minutemen’s Richman sank two free throws late to propel the Orange to the win, 64-63. 
Dylan Richman netted a team-high 18 points. 
Jake Leger, Nick Saiz and Caleb Carpenter all scored 11 points apiece for Lex.
