Competing against some of the best grapplers in the state, Lexington stood tall and strong on their home mats during the GNAC Wrestling Championships held on Saturday.
The Minutemen were fourth overall in the team race with 76.5 points, Kearney was the team champion with 146 points.
Scoring gold medal finishes for the Minutemen were the dynamic duo of Tomas Margritz and Pierro Garcia at 152 and 160 lbs., respectively.
Margritz finished the day with a win by decision, a pinfall and a technical fall. Garcia had a pair of pins and two wins by decisions.
Lexington’s Andy Rojas was the silver medalist at 120 lbs. Rojas scored three major decision wins to go along with a pin for the win and a 2-0 decision in the fifth round of competition.
Trystan Berry was the bronze medalists at 138 lbs. for Lexington. Berry put on an offensive clinic with a pin and technical fall along with an injury default win to finish with a fury.
Earning fourth place honors for Lexington were Brady Fago (126 lbs), Riley Kopf (170), Aidan Stuart, (182) and Cody Wolf (195).
